10 Summer Beauty Hacks That Hardly Anyone Knows

As much as we love summer and the sun – sunlight and high temperatures are not always good for skin, hair and our make-up. With these ten secret beauty hacks, everything will only be half as bad…

Sunburn, sweaty face and dry hair – the classic summer scenario after three days in the sun. Of course you shouldn’t stop there, that would be too bad for the good weather and especially the good mood. Instead, we have ten summer beauty hacks for you to get you through the summer.

1. Avocado mask

Chlorine, sand and sun often make your hair look brittle, dry and somewhat dull. And it usually doesn’t look nice at all. What can you do about it? Put avocado in your hair. Okay, an avocado mask, actually. Just mix half an avocado, a teaspoon of olive oil and a dash of lemon juice, apply it to all your hair and let the mask work for 20 minutes. You will see, your hair feels like new born – and of course you too!

2. Rinse hair in front of the pool

Would you like to jump into the pool immediately on vacation? Understandable! But before you do that, you should rinse your hair with tap water. This will make your hair absorb the water and it is less likely that they will absorb a lot of pool water. It dries them out – and we want to prevent that from happening.

3. Nail polish in the fridge

As soon as it gets hot, we all have problems with nail polish: the heat makes it sticky and thick. Not pretty! If you don’t want to be annoyed by such things during your manicure, just keep your favourite nail polish in the fridge. This prevents the consistency from changing and at the same time extends the shelf life of the product.

4. Tomato juice for blonde hair

Anyone with blonde hair will have thought, “God, my hair looks awful in the summer” The blonde quickly becomes dull or even slightly greenish. If you feel like it now, just try a little tomato juice. Soak your hair in it for five to ten minutes and then wash it as usual – your blonde tone will be just as beautiful as it was at the beginning.

5. Aloe vera ice cubes

Been in the sun too long? We’d know something. And no, it’s not after-sun lotion. If you’ve got a sunburn, you can cool it off with aloe vera ice cubes. Just freeze an aloe vera gel in ice cube trays. After sunbathing you can take them out and drive over the affected areas. This way you can cool the skin and care for it at the same time. Classic win-win situation!

6. Clean the Shaver with olive oil

In summer we shave our legs almost every day. It is logical that the skin reacts sensitively to this. But not only the skin, but also the shaver notices the daily use. If you don’t want your blades to rust, you can soak them in olive oil after shaving. This also ensures that the blade glides nicely over legs and co. If you want, you can even use diluted olive oil as a substitute for shaving foam. Works great.

 7. Deodorant on the feet

This trick is not intended to provide a great scent, but to help against moisture. If you often get blisters in sandals or slippers, it is because moisture forms and friction occurs in the shoe. You can simply rub these areas with a deodorant stick and you will have no more problems with blisters. This is definitely worth a try!

8. Make your cosmetics fit for travel

Away from the beach, towards the arrival: If you have broken a powder product in your bag or suitcase while travelling, then you know exactly how much it hurts. But with this trick it will never happen again: Simply place a cotton pad between the product and the lid and close the package as normal. This way the powder is cushioned and cannot break. Jackpot!

9. Baby powder on the beach

You’re on the beach and after a while you realize: The sand is just everywhere in your face and body. And it’s not really going down. But that can be changed very quickly – with some baby powder. Take a little bit of it on a brush and apply it to your face and body. This way you’ll brush away dried sand in no time at all and at the same time you’ll matt shiny spots.
