3 Golden Rules for Losing Weight at Breakfast

The right start to the day helps you lose weight: Those who follow these three golden rules at breakfast can soon tighten their belt.

1. Eat immediately after getting up

Researchers have found out that it makes sense to eat breakfast within the first hour after getting up. The reason for this is that eating it promptly boosts your metabolism. It also helps you to suppress bad decisions at lunch or dinner. The basic rule is: The earlier you eat, the sooner you stimulate your body’s fat burning process.

By the way: You should eat lunch about four and a half hours later, so that you are not excessively hungry. If you are hungry, you tend to go for fatty fast food. In the evening, make sure you eat the last thing at least three hours before going to bed.

2. Pick foods that will fill you up

In the morning, eat only food that will spare you the first attack of hunger in the morning. Instead of giving up breakfast completely or having just a slice of toast for breakfast, it is recommended to create a healthy, satisfying and sugar-free foundation for the day. Fibre and protein are the magic words here.

Porridge is ideal, for example, because the cereal provides you with sufficient energy, vitamins, carbohydrates, protein, minerals and fibre – and is also extremely digestible for the stomach. Smoothies or protein pancakes are also a good alternative for people who like to eat something sweet in the morning. Those who prefer their breakfast to be hearty can go for brown bread and cheese or the ultimate filling combination “fried egg and avocado”. The latter provides your body with healthy fatty acids that do not make you fat and also support your metabolism.

3. Watch your portions

And last, but not least: Watch the size of your portions. Yes, breakfast should fill you up, but you shouldn’t overdo it.
