Colon Cleansing as a Remedy: How It Works

A healthy digestion as a foundation stone for our well-being: This works with a colon cleanse. We show you how it fits perfectly into everyday life!

Why a colon cleanse?

Unhealthy nutrition, stress or medication – our digestive system does a lot every day and yet is often neglected. For the care and resetting of our digestion, a colon cleansing is recommended. While we only empty our bowels completely once during a therapeutic fasting cure, the intestinal cleansing aims at a longer period of time.

It can now be carried out without medical supervision and can be integrated into everyday life in the best possible way. And why not? If we care for our exterior, our interior deserves at least as much attention!

A colon cleanse can help with these symptoms

  • constant digestive problems like constipation, flatulence, diarrhoea
  • weakened immune system
  • constant tiredness or weakness
  • migraine
  • neurodermatitis or other skin problems and impurities
  • sudden gain in weight
  • colon mycosis and other recurrent fungal infections
  • with excrement bellies (also known as beer bellies)
  • food intolerances and allergies
  • chronic cystitis
  • after treatment with antibiotics

Duration of colon cleansing

Here it is important to realistically assess his state of health or, in case of doubt, to consult a doctor. As a rule of thumb, healthy people between 25 and 40 years of age carry out a colon cleansing over a period of three to four weeks. For sick people, a colon cleansing over eight to 12 weeks is recommended.

Of course, an colon cleansing can also be carried out over a shorter or longer period of time – in doing so, listen carefully to your body. Of course, age and the lifestyle up to that point also play an important role. The first successes can already be noticeable after 14 days, but a really lasting benefit can only be achieved with an colon cleansing of three months.

The three basic components of a colon cleansing

Three basic components are indispensable for colon cleansing. They are on the daily menu for the entire duration of the treatment:

  • Psyllium husks
  • Mineral Earth
  • Probiotic

The psyllium husk mineral clay shake is composed of the first two components, the probiotic is taken in addition to meals or twice a day afterwards.

For the shake you mix one teaspoon of psyllium husks with one teaspoon of mineral earth and about 400 ml of water to make a shake. The basic shake is taken one hour before or two hours after the meal. If you drink the shake in the morning and in the evening, you can have three meals as usual. If you tolerate the shakes well, increase to three and replace one meal.

Important: Do not drink more than four shakes a day! Optionally, the number of shakes can also be increased weekly: Week 1, one shake a day. Week 2, two shakes a day. Try out what you feel most comfortable with and increase slowly.

Nutrition during colon cleansing

Give up during a colon cleansing as often as possible:

  • Sugar
  • White flour
  • Dairy products
  • Meat
  • Caffeine
  • Alcohol
  • Salt (Only use small quantities!)

Get used to it instead …

  • Pulses
  • Quinoa, millet, buckwheat
  • Nuts, almonds
  • Seeds: Flax seeds, pine nuts, chia seeds, pine nuts, sunflower seeds
  • Rungs
  • Leafy vegetables: spinach, asparagus, rocket, lettuce, lamb’s lettuce, chicory
  • Tuber vegetables: potatoes, kohlrabi, carrots, parsnips, celeriac, beetroot, sweet potato, swedes
  • Fruit vegetables: cucumber, paprika, zucchini, tomato, eggplant
  • Oils (e.g. linseed oil)

In addition to the shakes, make sure you drink about three litres a day! Still water, herbal teas and cold-pressed juices (without additives!) work here. Your colon cleansing can be the perfect start for a change of diet.

What are the side effects?

As with fasting, symptoms such as tiredness, listlessness, impure skin or headaches can occur during an intestinal cleansing – also known as a “detoxification crisis” among experienced people. However, these pass. It can often help to adjust the dosage of the shakes or to drink more fluids. Fears of sudden bowel movements or similar complaints are also unjustified: The colon is cleared in a gentle and slow way, the bowel movement may change during the course of the cure, but it will settle down again. During pregnancy it is better to avoid colon cleansing and fasting cures.
