How to Make a DIY Coffee Face & Body Scrub

What can the coffee peeling do?

Coffee grounds can be used wonderfully as a peeling for the whole body and especially for the face. The homemade cosmetic product scores with purely natural ingredients and cares for the skin. The caffeine content also ensures good blood circulation. In addition, the coffee peeling removes old skin flakes and stimulates cell renewal. No wonder that a regular coffee peeling improves the skin’s appearance and leaves it feeling pleasantly soft, fresh and rosy! And last but not least, the coffee peeling is also said to be beneficial against cellulite. Here, the blood circulation-promoting and draining effect should come into play, which in turn should tighten the connective tissue.

Do the coffee peeling yourself: Recipes

Hints:

  • The coffee grounds and not the fresh coffee powder are used for the peeling. The coffee grounds are a by-product of the brewing process anyway and are thus optimally recycled!
  • The coffee grounds should no longer be moist for the preparation of the peeling, but preferably dried. To do this, spread it out on a baking tray, for example, and let it dry in the sun or in the oven for a few minutes. Caution: If you use fresh coffee grounds for the peeling, they are not suitable for storage because of the danger of mold.
  • Use organic coffee – this way you make sure that no pesticides were used during cultivation.

Coffee Oil Scrub

You need:

  • 4 tbsp. coffee grounds (dried)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Preparation

  1. Mix the coffee grounds and coconut oil together.
  2. Then apply the coffee peeling as a face peeling or body peeling and let it take effect briefly.
  3. Then rinse the peeling thoroughly.

Shelf life: Put the peeling into a sealable preserving jar. Store it in the refrigerator and consume it within a few days.

Coffee-sugar peeling

  • 1 tbsp. coffee grounds (dried)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Preparation

  1. Mix coffee grounds with sugar.
  2. Apply the coffee peeling to the face or body and then rinse off.

Shelf life: When the coffee grounds are well dried, the peeling will last for several weeks.

Coffee-sugar-honey-olive oil peeling

  • 4 tbsp. coffee grounds (dried)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (high quality)
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Preparation

  1. Mix the four ingredients together: the consistency should be creamy and not too oily.
  2. If necessary, some coffee grounds can be added.
  3. Apply the peeling and then rinse thoroughly.

Shelf life: In a sealed jar, the peeling will keep for a few days in the refrigerator.

Coffee peeling: Application

  • A peeling with coffee can be applied to the skin (body and face). However, you should not use it more than once or twice a week as it may irritate the skin. Find out what is good for your skin! You should be more careful with dry and sensitive skin.
  • Face scrub: Apply the coffee peeling to your cleansed face in gentle, circular movements. Avoid the eye area. Do not apply pressure, as the skin on the face is more sensitive. After a short application time, rinse off the coffee grounds with lukewarm water. Before applying another care product, allow your skin to rest for up to ten minutes after the peeling.
  • As a body scrub, it is best applied in the shower. So you can rinse everything away afterwards without any problems. Rub a small portion of exfoliator (about the size of a walnut) onto your skin in a circular motion. Continue with the massage for up to three minutes before you rinse off the coffee peeling with cold water.

Coffee peeling for the hair

And here is an extra tip for beautiful hair:

Mix fresh coffee grounds with either honey or olive oil. Then add some shampoo. When washing your hair, simply massage the mixture into the hair and scalp. After a reaction time of up to three minutes you rinse everything out thoroughly. The caffeine is said to strengthen the hair roots and promote hair growth.
