How To Remove Acrylic Nails The Right Way At Home!

Removing acrylic nails is very easy, painless and without help from the nail studio! How it works, we explain to you here.

You wish for pretty manicured and well groomed fingernails? Then a nail modelling with acrylic would be a great possibility. The advantage: acrylic nails look natural and at the same time strengthen the natural nail. So thin, splintering or brittle fingernails have no chance anymore!

The disadvantage: If you no longer want to use natural nail reinforcement, you have to remove the acrylic nails. But do not panic! That sounds more complicated than it is. Because acrylic nails do not have to be filed off, but can be removed easily and above all painlessly and without help from the nail studio. How this works, we explain to you here.

Removing acrylic nails – That’s what you need

  • Acetone solution (you can get it not only in the pharmacy, but also in the hardware store)
  • A rough nail file
  • A fine polishing file
  • Absorbent cotton pads
  • Aluminium foil
  • Rosewood sticks
  • Hand Cream

Remove acrylic nails with acetone in five steps

  1. First shorten the nails with the coarse nail file so that they protrude about one millimeter over the fingertip. Important: Make absolutely sure not to file down the natural nail!
  2. Now remove the top layer of the acrylic nails with the fine polishing film. Tip: Always file in one direction only and do not saw back and forth.
  3. If only a thin layer of acrylic is visible on the nail, the acetone is used. Soak a absorbent cotton pad in acetone, place it on the nail and wrap the whole thing with aluminium foil.
  4. After about 20 to 30 minutes the acrylic should have turned into a rubber-like mass and can be easily removed from the nail with a rosewood stick. Tip: Do not scratch with force, otherwise the natural nail could be damaged. Should you have problems removing your acrylic nails, go to a nail studio and seek professional help.
  5. Acetone strains nails and skin. Therefore, after removing acrylic, cream your hands well with a care product. This way you can make your own hand cream.

Extra tip: Removing acrylic nails with nail polish remover

You do not have acetone in stock? Then you can remove your acrylic nails with nail polish remover. The only important thing is that it contains acetone. Otherwise the procedure is the same as with the acetone solution. If you want to get rid of your acrylic nails with nail polish remover, you have to expect a longer exposure time.
