Pimples on The Upper Arm: This Helps!

Where did they come from? Pimples on the upper arm may not be a disaster, but they’re not welcome either. You can get rid of them that way!

Causes

They can be persistent. They can appear suddenly. They are seasonal visitors and sometimes, unfortunately, they multiply. Pimples on the upper arm have different causes.

Genetically caused pimples

Basically the small pimples on the arm are a cornification disorder of the hair follicles. Keratin is deposited on the sebaceous glands and clogs them. Doctors call the pimples on the upper arm, which are genetically determined, keratosis pilaris. Getting rid of them is not easy. However, with some methods it can be significantly alleviated. Impure skin on the body should be treated sensitively, aggressive cleansing products and anti-pimple creams disturb the acid mantle of the skin and often make the skin appearance even worse.

Hormonally induced pimples on upper arms and back

It’s hormones. If the pimples are more prominent and prone to inflammation, the course of the cycle is usually decisive. In our article Pimples on the face we not only explain what the location of a pimple tells us, but also how to treat the different types of pimples correctly. In addition, our acne advice on late acne, which deals with all relevant questions and the subject of the birth control pill – yes or no – is also helpful.

This helps against pimples on the upper arm

  • Peeling: A light peeling helps with grater skin – i.e. light-coloured, small hardenings that are particularly deposited on the outside of the upper arms. Do not use mechanical peeling particles that are too coarse-grained, which could chafe away the pimples and promote inflammation. Instead, use gentle enzyme peels (which soften the upper layer of skin with the power of certain enzymes), fruit acid peels (they loosen adhesions between the horn lamellae and have an optimal cleansing effect) or a peeling to do yourself. In case of hormonal pimples, no skin injuries should be risked by mechanical peelings. Mild cleansing with ph-neutral washing lotions should then be sufficient.
  • Diet changes: Some dermatologists recommend trying to avoid milk, as studies have shown that cow’s milk is often associated with skin impurities. Avoiding gluten can also help some patients.
  • No alcohol, no cigarettes, they are simply not good for our skin. Drink plenty of water instead.
  • Care with moisture: Dry skin has a rough surface, which can strengthen the grater skin. Care with urea, vitamin E, but also vitamin A does the skin good and does small repair work in the epidermis.
  • Most patients with keratosis pilaris notice that the bumps improve in summer. Sunlight and fresh air are good for the skin on the upper arms. Important: Apply the right sun cream. In case of impurities, light gel textures are better than a rich sun milk.
  • Regular sauna sessions can also help to loosen cornifications, because the skin layers are softened well during the sauna session – a subsequent peeling is then particularly effective.
  • If no home remedies help, the cosmetician can also achieve good results with regular cleansing.
