That’s how it’s done

Requirements

  • For a Half Bun you need at least shoulder-length hair
  • Freshly washed hair usually does not have the necessary grip … with a little hairspray the style still works!
  • Brushed hair

Instructions

Comb the top coat backwards and separate it from the rest of the hair with the fingers above the ears. Comb it into a braid with your hands.

Variant 1

  1. Pull your hair through a scrunchie several times until the scrunchie fits well. Make sure that you leave a loop the last time.
  2. Wrap the remaining hair of the braid around the bun and fix the end under the rubber. Alternatively you can fix the Half Bun with a few hairpins. If your hair is very thin, you can create an extra portion of volume by combing your hair overhead. As soon as you are standing upright again, gather your top hair directly together and follow steps 1 to 2.
  3. At the end you only have to pluck the Half Bun to make it look looser and more voluminous.

Variant 2

  1. After you have separated the hair above the ears from the rest of the hair with your fingers, twist the hair into a scroll and fasten the bun with a hair tie.
  2. Then pluck your Half Bun slightly apart so that it gets volume.

Tip: A few extra beach waves in your open hair will make the look perfect! Here you can find out how to make Beach Waves overnight.

Half Bun: Further styling tips

The Half Bun looks especially casual with falling strands. Don’t take the hair strictly to the back, but draw in a slight parting in the middle and then loosely gather the top coat.
