Cover dark circles under the eyes in 6 steps

Lack of sleep and high stress are only two factors for the dark shadows. Pigment accumulation, too little liquid or wrong nutrition in the form of mineral or vitamin deficiency can also cause the eye shadows. If you can’t get a grip on the dark circles despite sufficient sleep, fluids and nutrition, you can conjure away the unsightly discolouration with concealer etc. We explain to you step-by-step how it works.

1. Cream

At 0.5 mm, the area around the eyes is almost four times thinner than the rest of the facial skin. In addition, there is hardly any subcutaneous fatty tissue and few sebaceous and sweat glands, which protect it from drying out. So before applying make-up, the sensitive eye area should be given an extra portion of care. Products containing vitamin C, E and peptides or collagen provide a maximum of extra care.

2. Primer

A primer prepares the skin for the subsequent make-up. It ensures an even, smooth complexion and smoothes out small imperfections. Great are products with mother-of-pearl particles that reflect the light. Apply the primer to the nose, forehead, cheeks and the eye area.

3. Foundation

Now you can put on the foundation. This works best with your fingers, a beauty blender or a shampoo. And please blend properly. Important: First apply the foundation, then the corrector and concealer. Otherwise you rub the concealer and it will disappear immediately, but unfortunately your dark circles will shimmer through again.

4. Color Corrector

A corrector makes you look fresh and awake super fast and helps to lighten very dark circles under the eyes. Be sure to choose the color of the color corrector to match the color of your eye shadows.

  • Covering bluish or purple shimmering rings under the eyes: Blue veins under the eyes are best covered with a yellow corrector.
  • Covering red circles under the eyes: Redness can best be neutralized with green tones.
  • Covering brown circles under the eyes: If you have brownish rings under your eyes, you should go for a corrector in orange or salmon.
  • Covering yellowish dark circles: Your dark circles shimmer yellowish? Then you are probably under stress or ill. Yellow under-eye circles can be neutralised with cool blue or purple shades.

5. Concealer

Once you have neutralized the dark circles, it’s the concealer’s turn. The ideal concealer is one or two shades lighter than the actual skin color. Beauty experts recommend the liquid version, as the concealer cannot settle as much in the wrinkles under the eyes. Apply it in a V-shape under the eyes and gently tap it in with the ring finger from the outside inwards. Please do not rub with your fingers.

6. Powder

Afterwards you can fix the concealer with some colourless powder. This way the concealer stays in place and dark circles under the eyes are guaranteed to remain invisible for several hours. The same applies here: please only dab the powder on and do not wipe it off!
