Intimate Shaving: 3 Uncomfortable Things That Nobody Talks About

It is 2020 and there are still far too many taboo subjects. Especially when it’s below the belt. It’s high time to change that – we’re dropping our pants!

There are many totally normal, everyday things we do – but somehow nobody dares to talk about them openly. Intimate shaving is one of those things. We all deal with it somehow, somewhere, sometime. But nobody has a real plan. We want to change that now …

1. The right position

Sitting, standing, on one leg – we all shave differently at the bottom. And that is a good thing, because not all of us find every position pleasant or beneficial. It is somehow logical. According to a survey by Wilkinson, 39 percent of women have not yet found the right technique. So here are a few suggestions:

Flamingo

Bend one leg slightly and place the foot on the edge of the bath. In the shower, however, the pose becomes difficult.

Butterfly

Sit down, bend your legs and spread your knees outwards. Just like a butterfly.

Frog

Crouch down and spread your legs slightly apart. No matter what position you are in (or what your personal position is), make sure that you are always standing stable and secure.

2. How often is enough?

Our genital area is sensitive, even very. If you shave there every day, you will quickly realize that it is not so pleasant. The skin is irritated and, if in doubt, even inflamed. So seriously ask yourself the question: why are you shaving? Do you do it for your own well-being, for your partner or just because you do it that way? You should decide for yourself whether, when and how you shave. It is difficult to say how often we should shave the genital area. It also depends on the strength of the hair growth and the sensitivity of the skin. It’s best to shave in the evening, so there is less friction due to tight pants and movement.

3. How to shave: Vulval lips

When shaving, the labia in particular is a zone where many uncertainties prevail. It is best to shave here in short strokes. First on the pubic bone, then the outer vulval lips and finally individual hairs on the inside of the outer vulval lips. Meanwhile you can pull the skin tight with your fingers, which makes shaving easier. By the way, shaving with the stroke is especially gentle; if you want to be very thorough, you can shave against the stroke again. But be careful, this can quickly cause irritations!
