How to Rope Braid Step by Step for Beginners

Looking for an extraordinary hairstyle that neither requires a complicated braiding technique nor takes hours? Then you are spot on with the rope braid! You can find out how to style the hairstyle here!

Elegant and with a twist: The rope braid is something completely different and even highlights thin hair in a targeted manner! The braid can also be styled in a variety of ways and adapted for every occasion: whether as a ponytail, on the side or as a single strand with loose hair – the hairstyle is a feast for the eyes!

How to rope braid step by step

  • Comb your hair thoroughly. This way, you’ll avoid annoying knots creeping in while you’re styling.
  • Strictly comb your hair back and gather it in a ponytail.
  • Cut your hair in half in the middle. Then twist in both strands of hair to the right. The hair should cross over and not be twisted!
  • Then the strands of hair are intertwined to the left. This is the same principle as creating a cord. Fix the rope braid with a hair tie.
Attention: If you cross the hair strands in the direction in which you have previously twisted them, the braid will not hold and the cord will unravel again – so always twist in the opposite direction!
  • At the end, pull apart the twisted hair a little with your fingers – this will give volume to the rope braid.

Side rope braid: How to do it

  1. Comb hair well. Part your hair on the side if you only want a rope braid on one side – otherwise part it in the middle.
  2. If you have a side parting, choose the side opposite the parting for the rope braid.
  3. Take two thin sections of your hairline and cross them over.
  4. Now add to the existing strands on the sides of each a thin strand of hair of the top hair and the hairline and cross them again. This technique is reminiscent of the French braid.
  5. After each twist, take two thin strands of the sides into the main strands and twist them into each other. Continue the technique until you reach the desired place.
  6. At the side or at the back of the head you can fix the rope braid either with hair clips or a hair tie, or you can join it with another rope braid.

Two side rope braids are joined and fastened at the back of the head. Once you have finished the first one, fix it with a hair clip for now and add the other one later.

As a sports hairstyle an eye-catcher! And in addition, the hair is reliably held together!
